Folding screens
Decorative folding screens are a neat way to create a feeling of privacy within a room, hide the TV or just to display a supmtuous work of art without hanging a traditional painting or creating a mural directly on the wall. They are portable, can be enjoyed wherever you please and taken with you if you move house. I can paint these from my studio without disturbing your life or my own. If you live further away this ultimately reduces the cost to you as I do not need travel or accomodation.
Reclaimed from the sea
My personal recent artwork has focused upon the sea. Many of us are passionate about the oceans. I am lucky enough to live by the sea and to have explored it through study and diving as well as swimming in and sailing on it. As well as an artist I am a qualified marine biologist with a degree and PhD exploring the effects of global change on the marine phytoplankton. This series of artworks is painted on objects reclaimed from the seas. I am interested in the problems of plastic waste in our oceans and have found myself collecting worn metal from the beaches whilst cleaning plastic from them. These pieces have their own story, many are not recognisable as their previous form but beautifully worn and eroded. I find them an inspiring canvas and see these as small treasures given back by the sea.
